defined as prominence of the medial or vertebral border of the scapula.1-3 Clinically, decreased range of active shoulder movement, upper girdle muscle weakness, pain, or cosmetic changes may be observed. However, in many cases it is no more than an incidental physical sign. The classic etiopathology of winging of the scapula is serratus anterior muscle impairment, secondary to long thoracic nerve palsy. However, various nerve, muscle, bone, and joint pathologies of the shoulder may be associated with winging of the scapula.1,3 Tumors of the scapula, such as an osteochondroma, are rarely associated with winging of the scapula.15 This article reports a case of a 25-yearold man who presented with winging of the right scapula as a result of subscapular osteochondroma.

Painful Pseudowinging and Snapping of Scapula due to Subscapular Osteochondroma: A Case Report
INTRODUCTION Osteochondroma or exostosis is most common benign bone tumors. They are usually seen in the metaphyses of long bones with more than 35% of cases affecting the bone around the knee and are seldom found in flat bones like scapula. When present in scapula, they may cause abnormal scapulothoracic movements leading to pain, snapping, and pseudowinging of scapula. CASE REPORT We descri...

متن کاملArthroscopic resection of a symptomatic snapping subscapular osteochondroma.
Painful snapping of the scapula may have an anatomical cause but is usually idiopathic. Most patients respond well to conservative measures such as physiotherapy or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Surgery can be performed if conservative treatment is unsuccessful. Conservative measures are less likely to be successful if a clear anatomical cause can be found. Several surgical techniques ...
